Multilevel Modules
Multilevel Modules
CCLB has developed several resources to help support your practice.
Chapter 5 “Adapting Assessment for Multi-level Classrooms”, Classroom 1, and Classroom 2 provide background information and two examples of classroom teachers who assessed for two levels in their classroom.
These short, optional resources are designed to support the PBLA community of practice. The resources are intended for programs that are fully implementing PBLA. These resources will need to be accessed through your program Lead Teacher or Administrator.
Many instructors are working with a multilevel class. These classes may be designated across two or more benchmark levels (for example, CLB 1-2), or they may be single level classes (for example CLB 4) that include learners with benchmarks levels higher or lower than the designated CLB level in one or more language skills.
For strategies related to assessment across multi levels, see CCLB ‘s publication Integrating CLB Assessment Into Your ESL Classroom: Chapter 5 “Adapting Assessment for Multi-level Classrooms” This chapter also includes two classroom examples (Classroom 1, and Classroom 2) of instructors who assessed for two levels.

CCLB has developed (and is continuing to develop) ready-made module packages for CLB 1-2, CLB 3-4, and CLB 5-6 that include module plans, skill-building activities as well as skill-using and assessment tasks. Each module comes with listening texts in separate audio files. Module packages for Literacy are also available. Click on the hyperlinks below to access any of the modules and audio files.
